Esteemed 2428 Members, a pivotal vote took place on Wednesday, July 16th at Las Trampas. It gives our temporary, seasonal and intermittent colleagues more rights and protections. They are ALREADY a part of our union thanks to AB 1484 that went into effect on January 1, 2024. This enabled your leadership team to bargain for even more protections and rights for your fellow colleagues and create multiple pathways to permanency. A negotiations team, which included your vice President, chief steward, and affected members including interpretive student aides and recreation leaders, was created and began bargaining with management in January 2025. Your Negotiations team is recommending a YES vote. This tentative agreement by no means takes away from your permanent positions, nor does it impact permanent members in a negative way.
